The prayer is followed by a 15 to 20 minute khutbah. Please remember that it is important to remain seated and quiet during the khutbah.
This year’s Fitra is $10.00 per person in the family. Zakat al-Fitra is a religious alms (zakat) paid on the day when Muslims break the fasting period at the end of the month of Ramadhan. It is due prior to the start of the Eid ul-Fitr prayer by the head of household for each person in the household. A Box labeled specifically for Zakat al-Fitra will be available prior to the prayer.
Please remember Eid-ul-Fitr Salat is a wajib (strongly recommended, just short of obligatory) salat of two raka’ah. This salat should be performed with Jama’at. It has an extra six Takbirs, three of them in the beginning of the first raka’ah and three of them just before ruku’ in the second raka’ah. The Eid prayer is followed by the khutbah (sermon) and then a supplication (dua) asking for forgiveness, mercy and help for all living beings across the world.
See press release from the Islamic Center of St. Joseph for the Eid ul-Fitr prayers.
